Ms. Pope
After graduating from Furman University with a B.A. in History, I began teaching social studies at Landrum High School in December 1992. Since that time I've taught all grade levels from 7th through 12th and became a library media specialist. This year, I'm excited to be back in the classroom full-time after having the dual roles of librarian and AP US History teacher for the past four years.
While fascinated with most every aspect of United States history and political science, some of my specific areas of interest include the history of the southern textile industry, women's rights, the Cold War and the Civil Rights Movement. In the classroom, I enjoy integrating technology into the learning process and strive to engage students in thinking critically about history.
My husband, Brian Merritt, and I have an adorable and energetic seven-year-old son, Zeke. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling, researching genealogy, watching classic movies and attending my son's sporting events.
